Fire Emblem VII: 62: Slow, painful move forward
You know, this would go a lot easier if I just used my max leveled characters rather than having my other soldiers try their best to level up...

Well, there's a lot of back and forth in this mission, but luckily, this should be getting close to being completed with the various tasks found in Barcelona! Close, at least...

Okay, so finally got that one mission done. Something tells me that the weather here is not going to make this particularly straightforward in this next chapter.

So, we have access to a bunch of special crystals that will boost our abilities, and we have already come across one! ... it's just on the other end of the map. Welp, time to get our steps in!

Reupload because the last video had some wonkiness in the middle of it. Kyle's gotta make that money to make his rent! Unfortunately, he also has a slight problem with a little disease. He might be a little bit lycantropic. Of course, we'll be fiiiine, so long as we aren't seen by anyone.

Okay, let's play THOSE GAMES

Broadcasted live on Twitch Watch live at www.twitch.tv/gildedtongue Yeah, I'm sure you've seen these ads often enough, and when you get the game, it turns from that to some completely other thing that isn't nearly as fun. but, here's a game that's all those games! Let's get puzzling!
Star Wars - Dark Forces: 01: Rogue One

So, didn't get Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force working how I wanted to, but fear ye not, I'm still more than happy to bring you all some sci-fi first person shooters! Besides, it's been far too long since we've been to the Galaxy Far Far Away. Before the Disney buy-out, the story of the theft of the Death Star plans and the saga of the Dark Troopers were all told in this... very, very 90's game.

Fire Emblem VII: 52: Down the hoooooole
Game of my childhood. Don't waste your potential for youtube gameplays. I recommend you go stream twitch/kick, youtube gameplays are dead.
got to love Red and the deal x damage instant/sorcerry spells.
Yeah. Red's ability to just doomstrike whatever given enough mountains is impressive.
@@Gildedtongue yeah. i mean i'd much prefer Red's doomstrike spells then dealing with blue's the nope you can't cast that... or that... or that spells.
@@BahamutZerodragon Blue: I'm sorry, you wanted to play a game? Sorry
@@Gildedtongue yeah that's pretty much blue... and its the reason i don't like blue.
poison counters... the worst mechanic in magic the gathering in my opinion.
gotta love the computer considering how much of the rng it controls. i remember seeing people doing crazy enchantment things in mtg arena. 7/7 is nothing... while its nothing to sneeze at... i've seen creatures getting into the 10's of thousands to hundreds of thousands of power/toughness.
yeah some of the early magic cards seem... a little interesting. also would have been interesting to see some planeswalkers actually show up to duel.
Hehe, it would be! But, since it was 97, there weren't that many planeswalkers known. Urza, of course, but I can't think of many of the early ones.
@@Gildedtongue yeah... Serra i believe was a planeswalker at the time... she does have a card. but i know she did create a plane and then Urza destroyed it.
Always Deploy Merlinus! I wonder, does he ever deploy in a bad slot? And whew, rough level!
got to love how matches can go... they either start off strong or not... depending on how the computer is feeling.
Yeah, it's a lot of the luck of the draw, that's for damned sure!
@@Gildedtongue yeah luck plays a lot in magic. i know in arena a lot of matches feel like that because i get the feeling the computer just wants to give the win to someone.
still looks like fun. i totally wish i had this game as a kid... i might have been frustrated with it... but it might still have interested me.
It's certainly the best rendition of MtG as an RPG that the late 90s could come up with. But, yeah, it's folly is that every random encounter is, like, 15 minutes...
@@Gildedtongue yeah... but the same could almost be said of the matches you can have in magic the gathering Arena where matches can go upwards of 45 minutes at times depending on the deck.
I have to say I am a big fan of how Barcelona looks in this. Pretty level design. I guess it wouldn't have been able to handle more NPCs as it looks like it rolls up the sidewalks quite early!
@@sethtriggs yeah. The matte background looks nice, but, yes, so few interactables. I'd like to have seen some wandering NPCs outside of guards, even if they don't talk.
*walks in to watch.* looks like a fun game to play.
See this is what happens when you work for Evil Overlords, you get thrown under the bus. Loving these haircuts. And ahahahah Ursula looks to be next for the embussening!
@@sethtriggs yeah. Kinda makes me miss Alvis and the Loptr cult of FE4. Like at least they seemed to have a goal greater than "be evil"
A good "Day at the office" after joining the Wielders!
Hehe, yeah. I should be speeding things up by using the blue crystals, but, to be honest, the map isn't that huge without it.
Cool but it's not the time for this. I don't have 4 hours lol
Such a cute game! I was wondering if you were gonna play this one!
The soundtrack is so good on this charming game. Very nicely done. Love this concept so much! Also water on servers is completely cool and legal LOL.
Nice job shivving Cortez! Would be fun if you were able to get the hidden treasure anyway and get a win-win!
Yeah, but, I suppose when presented with such an opportunity... I couldn't not do it.
Wow 1995 - weirdly I never heard of this game! Looks pretty cool though. Kex Engine I never heard of. And nice MIDI sound. Also a big fan of the nice cutscenes and art style.
have you heard of quake? Thats what you need to play next if you havent
This is one of the bleakest, yet most interesting games I've ever seen!
What an imaginative game concept!
It's certainly rather fun!
I wonder, are there ever situations where you *wouldn't* want to deploy Merlinus? Heheheh would be fun if Lyn could subsequently become a "Brain Lord." The (!) icon on an enemy, I don't recall seeing that before! Also why does Rebecca suck so much? Is there a way in this game to make her not suck or is she just outclassed by being too early-game?
Not really. Like, even if he gets attacked and loses all his HP in battle, he's still around next mission. Hehe, very brainy lord! The eclaimation point sometimes shows up if an enemy is of a significant threat to a character, like a bow user to a pegasus knight, or someone with an armorslayer to a heavy knight. As far as Rebecca... She's apparently supposed to be one of the best archers, but I guess she got bad rolls on her early level ups so she's kinda... meh.
Not a fan of Cortez, not one bit, nope! I never get used to those pathetic canine dying noises! And wow this is one of the noisiest games you've ever played ahaha!
So I wonder, is the Fire Emblem always an in-game MacGuffin?
In many games. Genealogy was a rare exception, but most of the games do exist in the same world, which, yeah, it shows up as a macguffin. I'm not sure I'd want to hold an emblem made of fire.
A lot of stuff here really seems to incentivize running away, going "Not me!" I am really digging the graphics of the castle for example.
That's interesting about the history here with Dart! That was a good "day at the office" and nice to see the level ups.
This is a momentous occasion, where a game with all kinds of unfair, fake difficulty finally gets conquered with the player leveling the field.
@@sethtriggs behold the power of save states!
Heh everyone's got a special set of secrets don't they?
So, the moral of the game is... To confront, and overcome one's inner fears, doubts, and demons, one must summon their courage and... cower in the corner, while wildly swinging at any perceivable person or thing that gets close?
@@Kantorock fite smtr, nt hrdr
Zelda 2 takes me back. Of all the games I ever played on the NES, it was that game I could never beat. Then again, I treated it like an action-adventure that was so common back then, when I now know I should have been treating it like a metroidvania rpg. Still can't beat it, though... Good to see modders flipping the script, and letting Link get some vacation time in, after all these years. Especially, if the theory of Zelda 2's Link being the Hero of Legend is true. lol
RISIN UP AGAINST THE MAN
LOL Eliwood loves Ninian? Alrght. Guess that special dance was super effective! Man. Nina's eyes are HUGE compared to the others. LOL on the Linus joke. This is sure a sticky wicket!
Hehe, seems effective enough! You can pair Eliwood up with a few folk, but I think Ninian is probably the canonical choice. And yes, very big anime eyes!
I love how the first screen seems like you're in a compass bubble. Kinda cute. Also LOL at the casual conversation during swordplay.
Seriously fun game.
Huh. Cemetery crosses. And whoa, invisible enemies, a classic Video Game Screw-You! These are the kind of games that make you throw controllers. That invisible pitfall is absolutely sadistic. But glad you have all the Stuff! now! Imagine having to actually do this on the NES, how much you lose when you have to game over. And I love the subway station-teal tile in 25:00 on. And I Loooooove overpowered! Also that was cute that you pick up a doll of yourself as the extra life. What even are those plush-looking...things...you get the temple treasures from anyway?
Yeah, I guess NoA rules are a bit more lax with their parent company. Oh, the invisible enemies suck a whole lot, aye. The things at the ends of the dungeons? I'm not... entirely sure. They kinda look like Moai to me.
Too bad they couldn't use the wyvern to fly out of the hole. You used a great strategy though!
Hehe, yeah, sometimes these plots require the lack of thinking too hard.
Well this was a nice "day at the office." And glad you were able to find ways through the more difficult mooks. I am assuming this is yet another indication of games being made before Wikipedia so I'll give them a *sliiiiiight* pass.
Hehehe, very slight, but yeah...
Sometimes you have those days where the whole party fails a spot check. But at least Hawkeye is dressed for the elements! And this battle is a sticky wicket.
Yeah, it's certainly a tight fit down in this dungeon!
But my question is, is the watery maiden distributin' swords? Good day at the office with lots of good swordpunchery! And that wet fight for "extra innings" is...quite squishy.
Well, no swords yet, but distributing good things! Much squishy!
That sucks about Serra, ooof. Well the support is actually good story. The vow of chastity OMG. Oh that's fucked up! What IS Ninian hiding? And wow Rebecca is awkkkkkkward. And of course Paul is Scarface too! This is hard fought!
Hehehe, yeah, certainly some supports offer an interesting story!
I am liking the pirate captain's accent, heh! LOL love the toll discussion. And the bit of, let's say...debate later.
Captain Isabella is certainly a nice lass! Maybe we'll find out more about her later...
Water-walking boots? Say what?!! LOL on the 10-second water fetch quest. I always loved in Nintendo games, where the general size of the sprite meant that if you did interior shots the ceilings were always the equivalent of 50 feet high. Ahhhhh, tech limits. And cute chubby lady sprite! Did the lady in the village just turn into a monster? Yiiiikes! And I swear some of these enemy hitboxes piss me off! 12:46 would be a thrown controller moment for me for sure. The upthrust I guess are for those friggin' ledge bats in the caves. And glad you got all the powerups!
Yup. The manual warns that "agents of Ganon are everywhere!" so sometimes people you talk to turn into bats. And yeah, hehe, if you think the average person is a little under two meters tall, these buildings are enormous! There's a reason this game has taken me so long to complete.
So apparently this big bad Jasmine is just Scarface. Yeeeek. But great work keeping it up! all that strategy has paid off!
First of all I busted out laughing from the video title. And sure got a lot of Sneaky Sneaky in today's video heh!
Hehe, thank you! And yeah, at least attempts at being sneaky-sneaky!
This is such an interesting game!
The premise is certainly fun!
Whoa that Pent is one bad dude! And yeah this map is deceptively tricky. SAAAAAANDSTOOORM. And damn, Canas is super squishy.
Heh, yeah, he certainly doesn't need much help! (but we need that EXP he's hoovering up!) And yes, Canas is bebe.
Well that sure happened at 6:00! It's very amusing to see how all the enemies scurry around so quickly. Also wow what a hootenanny! And they could've used more voice clips when the fighting becomes this overwhelming! This game is wild.
Certainly. This game feels very limited. Like, there wasn't much to Arcanum, but didn't feel as repetitive.
The ballistae BREAK? Wowwwww I am assuming that is just for balance reasons. Very nice "day at the office" here.
Yeah, each only have five rounds to them. Annoying when you're controlling them, but helpful if the enemy has commedered them!
I rather like the archectural inputs in the buildings.
Yeah. There's some good stuff in this game, just a lot of... ugh.
Can never be easy in a game of this era. Ooof. Also wow I HAAAATE those boomerang enemies. They're actually way worse than Hammer Brothers. Heal spell rocks! Now I just end up thinking, "Ali! Use the magic of Oprin!" The increase in size of this over Zelda I is fascinating. I also wonder if the difficulty scale is the same between Zelda I and II as it is between SMB1 and 2. That downward stab IS cool, wow! I wonder if my cousin ever beat this game.
Hehe, this is certainly the era of punishment for length! And yeah, Scheherazade memories are good! :)
"Punish me!" Woooooooooow. "Special dance" from Ninian? Okay! LOL. And the secret shop text is so cheeky ahaha! Also technically that's interesting the strategy the game uses for allies or opponents with large sprites, just panning over. Neat. Also I think Windows killed the game audio in that way it does!
Yeah, unfortunately, a number of the Fire Emblem vids are sans game audio. I did get that fixed up. And hehe, a very... special dance indeed!
The music actually seems too pleasant for this particular dungeon. Good fisticuffs/swordslashery action though! Aw sad story about being made into a were-rat.
Yeah, the music seems a little... off. and certainly a bit sad indeed.
